I enjoy making sauces at home and most often than not I use the sauces in chicken wing recipes.
I love the sweet and sourness of teriyaki sauce and depending on how long you cook it, it can turn sticky which is good.
Just like my barbecue sauce, you dump all the ingredients in a pan and you are halfway there.
In Japan, teriyaki sauce is usually made with soy sauce, sake or mirin (rice vinegar), sugar and ginger. For my recipe I used soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and some water.
Add all the ingredients in a sauce pan.
Over medium heat, stir to allow the sugar to dissolve and cook the sauce for 7-10 minutes.
Other recipes add corn starch to thicken it.
You can use immediately to cook some beef, chicken etc or allow to cool and store in a glass jar for upto a week in the fridge.
As for the taste, teriyaki sauce is sweet and sour bordering on a salty sweet because of the soy sauce.
