HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Excited to show up!

For the candle cake;
1. I should have baked in a sheet pan and cut out the layers.
2. I should have used buttercream instead of white chocolate ganache as the frosting.

To showing up no matter what.

Baba ghanoush.

Check my stories for the step by step.

Honestly, hands one of the best ways to enjoy eggplants. Also I tend to prefer this to hummus. Don't get me wrong I love hummus too.

Yesterday I went for the opening night of Tom Mboya (the rerun) by @tooearly4birds

It's a storytelling show punctuated with reenactments, songs and dances. They have different story tellers with different styles making the show captivating. The pacing is good and I loved the use of pop culture references, not only did they add levity, they aided in audience participation.

Having watched the first run back in 2019, I can say that they have added more material and covered the life story of Mboya even more wholistically, flaws and all.

In as much as one knows how the story ends, spoiler alert (not!), Mboya dies. The raw emotion of the fateful day is felt.

The team did an amazing job retelling this story. The sheer amount of research, writing and rehearsal done is impressive. Kudos team.

The drawing of parallels between the political climate then and now was also done very well and sadly reminding us that in as much time has gone , it's not yet Uhuru (freedom not the d.......)

The show is 4 hours long.
Intermission is 20 minutes.
I was surprised when I looked at the time after it ended, it didn't feel like 4 hours.

Friday's show is sold out but one can get tickets for Saturday or Sunday.

Loved the location also, big auditorium with comfortable seats, the waiting area is large and accommodating of large crowds.
PS. If you are going for the 7pm showing, dress warmly, it can get a little chilly in the auditorium.

I wouldn't mind going again, any takers 😉?

Ratatouille for dinner.

Served with some toasted bread and you can add some fried eggs.
I had with leftover creamy chana dal. So delicious.

My eldest enjoys ratatouille.
