So last week I shared a simple pizza dough recipe and promised to share a tomato sauce recipe to be used as the base for the pizza.
Whenever I make pizzas I usually make a basic marinara sauce to use as a base but when I don’t have fresh tomatoes on hand, I simply use tomato ketchup, Aha! Quick tip.
Anyway, last month I managed to get my hands on the Β March issue of True Love magazine and therein lied a simple basic tomato sauce recipe and true to my nature, I just had to try it out.
The recipe is pretty easy to follow, I halved it since I didn’t need that much sauce.
Start by chopping your onions.
Then crush some garlic, I normally just chop mine finely, never really been patient with the mortar and pestle.
Pour some olive oil in a sauce pan.
Add in the onions and garlic.
Once the onions are cooked, pour in the tomatoes and water.
Cover for 10 to 15 minutes, then add the herbs, salt and pepper and sugar.
I never seem to have fresh herbs so I just used dried ones, however the recipe calls for fresh herbs.
Next, we’ll assemble the pizza π
Tomato Sauce
