French toast

Bread being one of the simplest things to prepare for breakfast, I am always in search of new ways of serving it.

Don’t let the name fool you french toast has to be one of the easiest and fastest things to make for breakfast. No elaborate culinary skills needed. Nothing like the egg in a basket.

Ingredients:

Bread (I used a baguette)

2 eggs

1/3 cup of  milk

Salt to taste

Dried parsley leaves

Oil for frying

my bread

Slice the baguette at an angle so as to create a large surface area.

In a bowl mix the eggs, milk, salt and dried parsley leaves.

beat the mixture lightly till everything is combined

At this point, heat some oil in your skillet.

Soak the sliced bread into the egg mixture

Then place the soaked bread slices onto the pan and cook till the egg mixture is set. Flip to cook the other side.

Breakfast is served 🙂

enjoy

Verdict:

Yummy 🙂 Hubby loved it.

I’ve never really liked to style of eating bread with eggs but I have to say I liked this. Definitely on the top 5 breakfast meals.

If I could do it over again:

Well I don’t think I’d change anything.

  1. I love french toast! I like to add some cinnamon and milk to the eggs for cinnamon french toast. Or an angular slice of banana on top of regular french toast. I’ll try it with parsley. 🙂

  2. Hey, I love the picture story way you post your recipes–especially useful to see if am on the right track since whenever I cook it either turns out very bad or very good. When I discovered your blog, I decided to start with the breakfast recipes hoping they’ll be simple enough for even lazy cook moi to try. I had tremendous success with the toasted bread, brawn, cheese & sausage sandwich, which due to popular demand I’ve been making every Sunday now. This french toast recipe, however, didn’t turn out as yummy. I used normal white bread. It tasted … soggy. My son only had 1 slice & asked to eat something else :p My 3yr old daughter (who normally isn’t a fan of eggs or bread) ate most of the toast I had made. It was a Saturday & my husband had already left for work so he never got to taste them & give his review.

    • he he he it’s funny how different reviews can be shared on the same dish. Interesting that your daughter enjoyed it yet she doesn’t like eggs. Next time try toasting it a little bit longer over low heat.

      • I know! She even took one from my plate & I wondered, “Who are you, and what have you done to my lil’ girl?” Thanks for that suggestion. I’ll try it. Don’t take it for granted that you can figure out how to tweak/adjust recipes & make the dish better. I do that & sometimes it works out great, other times … disaster! I guess practice makes perfect.
